Sunday Drive to Grandma's House

Every Sunday I go to grandma's house. This is were our memories were made and future memories lay ahead. In the winter we are embraced by the warmth of family snuggled inside to enjoy comfort food, love and silliness. In the summer we enjoy sitting in the yard enjoying sweet tea and the kids playing with kittens and enjoying the fresh air.We get the old tractor out and have a family garden as well, each planting there own little plot to tend and share the bounty...Pappy passed away a year and a half ago but so many of my fond memories revolve around him...Here are a few country views I have passed on the drive since childhood. So grab a warm cuppa and enjoy the ride.
The old brick farmhouse sits on 20+ acres it used to be the only house on the lane but a few new houses have been built at the end of the road now.We always enter through the side door up past the jockey....Below the pond we used to ice skate here but the winters haven't froze it through lately....Old out building we used as a fort....
This used to be the only other farm on gradma's lane. There is a huge field so it sits way back from the road.It used to be the old amish farm.In the summer all the amish kids would ride on back of the horse plow and wave to us,in the winter they would all be at the end of the dirt lane with their new scooters and bikes they got for christmas.Grandma once got hon for letting a few of the children visit and watch cartoons with us...LoL The farm was bought a few years back and the amish moved away.....
Old barn with stone foundation...

The old stone church with it's newly restored copper steeple..The graveyard....

Love the old Ford truck tucked in here....
Big red barn with stone foundation...

Abandoned farmhouse used to store farm equipment.Oh it would be lovely to explore probly alot of prim goodies tucked away that no one cares about..Have to ask grandma who owns it...
Old house at the end of the main road. They are doing a ton of work on it.. I'm told they are putting a inn style restraunt and bed & breakfast but it's been a long slow process.A lawyer owned it years ago..My hubby did restoration work on this house and the old barns across the street years ago when the lawyer owned it....
These are the barns that go with the above house....

Hope you enjoyed our sunday drive to grandma's old farmhouse.I still love the views after all these years.I'm so thankful to live in a small town in a rural area.Even more thankful to be close to loved ones who still gather for sunday dinner.Warm Blessings!~Amy

Yes, I did enjoy your Sunday drive. And those memories are hard to come by now a days. I remember some of the same memories in my home town, which I almost never return to. Everyone has since moved on. I do try to get my family together for Sunday dinner, I so love the family Sundays, but everyone seems so busy and going in all directions it only seems to last for a month then we get busy again.

You are very lucky to have your family so close and still get together to make those special memories. Plus your grandma's house and property are pretty nice too!!! Thanks for sharing your story I enjoyed the walk down memory lane :)

Your Grandmas's house is picture perfect and such lovely scenery on the way. Whenever I see an abandoned barn, I start day dreaming about the treasures it must hold.

I love the family garden idea!

Wonderful photos. There are so many old homes with no one living in them here. As I pass by them I often say I WISH I COULD GO DIG IN THAT HOUSE. There could be some old primitive items just waiting for a prim lover to take them home. Enjoy your Sunday visits to Grams. Blessings!
