Happy Memorial Day ~ Hubbies Find ~ Thanks Secret Sister
Happy Memorial Day Weekend! Memorial Day actually means a few things in my heart.First off is a appreciation for the brave men and women who fight for our freedom today and since the birth of our nation.A sadness for the lives lost and the families who lost someone close..A sense of pride and Americana spirit..The kick off to summer weekend welcome barefeet and flip flops!
Well hope everyone has a great weekend.I'm making pulled pork today and taking it easy.Tomorrow Fleamarket then to Heidi's for a cook out (her first time hostessing..smile..).Sometime this weekend I need to get my plot planted at grandma's farmhouse with all the rain it's either been to muddy or like cement but I need to get it in before my plants die..Warm Blessings!~Amy
Thank you for the brave who protect or freedom even when all isn't always right they protect and serve you and me...
Well I've come down with a cold and it has me run down a little so my heart hasn't been in the hunt for treasures the last two days.I've went but it was more whatever I happen upon is fine..no drive for it...I did pick up a few things but nothing grand since thursday...Hubbies drive was still good he bought a unusual old egg washer and basket,a steamer trunk and some other goodies for fleamarket but this was his "FIND" for the weekend....Hand carved old oxen yoke even has the original wood pegs to hold the yokes...It's huge...

A few finds
Well as most of you know I spend my summer and fall looking for treasures. As a dealer I need to restock each week and like to be the person with the "good stuff" at resonable prices.I have regular shops I "pick" for.I don't make a ton of money doing this but it gives me the pleasure of not having to answer to a boss.I was in sales with 3 major companies for years with each and with the economy and things going over seas my departments were elemenated so I would rather just work for myself.I also owned a shop for a time but find I don't like the overhead involved it cost alot to run a shop, so fleamarket and online is the route I choose...Anyhow I try to go every Thursday,Friday and Saturday when the season is in..Sundays is our market day and hubby usually sells so I can go look or they have church service sometimes I go to that...So here are a couple of the goodies I found today.....The lady I bought this from gave me a long lecture on sauerkraut making.Of course I won't use it for that but politeness pays off when you want to negotiate..smile...Keeping this the blue decorated ones like this go for around $350 in our area I got mine under $100....After this had to go to hubbies job and ask for some more money but couldn't pass it up....It's 5 gallons bigger than it looks... Old Basket..Misi said these were down baskets to hold feathers..Not sure if I will keep...
I also got a old tin store spice bin, whisk brooms, more bowls, some kitschy stuff, tobacco tins and some other things I didn't drag in from the jeep yet.I'll be going to a differnt area tomorrow. Then saturday I need to get my plot planted at grandma's farmhouse.Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!~Amy

A few of my weekend finds
Well the weekend was finally nice..After thursday's and friday's adventures hubby said we were staying home and relaxing saturday.Well no such luck for me I got up and tried real hard but it just didn't work. The sun was up and I was anxious to go.Of course I talked him into it.I agreed to only take $40 and no stopping for extra's no matter what.I did find some wonderful things but when we got to the saturday fleamarket after saling there was a man there with soooo many wonderful things I wanted, but I resisted.Did buy $5 worth from him but would have easily spent $200 if I wasn't broke..smile...Here a few of my finds. My camera batteries died so just a few goodies to show...My spongeware milk bowls that I had to go back for..I'll be selling this one...and keeping the other one...
Antique baby picture..Has her name on the back. The man I bought it from was 86 it was is sister...Who can resist? Not sure what I'll do with it..Probly sell it since I have several already..
Old Tin mold with acorn motifs leaning towards keeping...
Old advertising crock..I wanted to sell but hubby wants it...
Old scales selling...
Beautiful Victorian Celluloid dresser box full of french ivory implements..Selling on etsy as I don't want to take it out in the sun...
This hubby bought from a privet lady a few weeks ago It's a miniature size.He bought it to sell but I talked him into giving it to me...smile...
Old Berry carrier.Love this but need to find a place for it....
Sunday was nice so we were able to set up at fleamarket.I sold a ton of stuff very blessed. They also had the tractor show that day and church service down at the pavillion. So lots happening..We stayed a little later than we normally do and went home with a very light load...I didn't find much at the fleamarket but my girlfriend had beautiful high button baby shoes at her stand. Her son was watching so I didn't see her. They were a little more than I wanted to spend so next week I'm going to ask her to swap me something for them...I did buy a old french bulldog pinkeep for me and a few smalls for etsy..It was nice as so many friends were out and stopped to say Hi! Still waiting for you to stop by Dee..smile...One lady that owns a local shop had hubby drop something off for her so sent him with a small list for some swap fillers and the new simple life magazine...Just want to remind everyone the Seasons of Friendship swap sign up is closed.A few of you had questions so if I emailed you with approval your in just send me your info.I have another busy week ahead but will be taking a little me time in between.Hope you all have a wonderful week.I plan on being in the gardens alot planting, cleaning and weeding.Warm Blessings!~Amy

Swap Goodies and Out Junking
As you can see another dreary, rainy day her in PA..It's rained like 2 weeks straight and we've had records broken for April..Out the front window.... This morning was quite the adventure.Got up to drizzle but by 6:30 I was sitting in the jeep trying to figure out were to go saleing I told hubby there was one listed with 1800's stuff and antique gold watches.his response was "If they listed that they know what they got and you aren't getting a deal" I said I need to go anyway or I'll feel I missed something. It was a further than we normally go and we decided to just hit what we found along the way.So off we go yes it's drizzling but I was optimistic..smile..So first stop Gettysburg sale we were the early birds. We bought a antique church pew and milk can wouldn't fit so left her a deposit and said we'd be back in a few hours with the truck..Off again we kept running into back road sales got some good old junk. Then the one Oh my goodness..Bought 2 gooseneck graniteware coffee pots one was blue swirl and miniature, hubby was going to buy a old wagon but felt bad a old lady wanted it so since we have two on the sunporch going to sale he gave it to her. They had a ton of stuff but I didn't have much cash and we were in the middle of nowhere so I bought a yelloware custard cup and went on my way.But it was killing me I left behind 2 old yellow spongeware milk bowls and hubby kept thinking about the old drive in speakers...So we finally get to the antique sale we were hunting.Well 5 minutes to late the guy was haggling for the two gold watches which he got for $70 scrap value would have been at least $500 they were solid gold.Oh well and there was a lady who owns a shop who grabbed most of the antique victorian childs stuff but I did get a old framed baby portrait and a tin tea strainer..Off we go around the corner People selling everything for $1 got a few old things..I'm still fussing about not getting the milk bowls and darn I should have bought those drive in speakers they were a rare find.Bingo!! a convience store go get cash and off we go to get the bowls and drive in speakers.I never go back and hubby is saying they aren't going to have them.I'm confident they will since it's in the middle of nowhere...Yep they had them and even worked me a deal..Yeah! One bowl for me one to sell..Head towards home a differnt route so I can hit more sales another off the beaten path sale some primitve hayforks and such for market.Lady has a old berry carrier holding magazines I ask will you sell me that? Yep so off again.Meet up with a man who says he has old wood washtubs and ringers set back for me to come see as he's moving can't wait will be going this afternoon...Still with me? I'll try to get some pics but I've been soooo busy...Want to remind everyone I'm hosting a new Swap Seasons of Friendship.Go to the nest post for sign up and rules.I'll accept sign ups till monday morning..I've got some great girls joining in again..Don't miss out...
