Happy Saturday!!

I'm all caught up for the week so decided today will just be a lazy day.Hubby decided to work so I can have the house to myself a few hours. It's supposed to snow all day on and off.I even prepped dinner last night so all have to do is throw it in the pot and simmer(slippery chicken pot pie)...I'm going to catch up on blogging and watch some movies..I recived some new goodies recently.I love hooked rugs and normally can't afford them.Sandi at http://www.oldecrowprimitives.blogspot.com/ was having a sale and I really wanted this prim cabin mat so she was so kind to hold it back for me till I could pay for it...Now I just got to find the perfect place to display it.This little wool crow pinkeep was a gift from fellow blogger becky...
My sil Jean ~Primcrafts and I recently did a little swap. She wanted one of my blackened beeswax pineapples so we decided to swap some goodies....The little doll was a surprise..I love everything she sent....
Found a place for the sweet little doll and pillow....
She also sent me some hearts which I wanted to fill the basket below and to tuck in with my valentine displays....

Not much exciting happening lately.I've just been finishing up swap stuff and pouring a few easter beeswax tucks.I'll be able to show you some stuff in a few days once everyone gets their goodies.I have just one more swap to get out.I'm finshed with it, just got to get it packed up and sent out monday.I've had to wait for hubby to do most of my shipping because I don't like going out in the ice much. Luckily my sales have been a little slow this week so I haven't had alot to go out..We did go to visit our friend who is restoring the farmhouse. It was a beautiful country drive with all the snow.I was surprized the roads were fairly clear for being so far out in the country.Well hope you all have a cozy relaxing saturday. There is still time to sign up for the seed swap on the last post if anyone is interested.Warm Blessings!~Amy

Seed Swap Anyone?

Good morning! I know everyone is thinking ahead to spring. So I was thinking of doing a seed swap.I collect seeds from my gardens each year plus buy new varities each year.I also trade some of my perrinals and herbs to friends and neighbors. I always have a small vegetable garden out back and plant a few things on grandma's farm. Tons of flowers great you from my front yard..
I like to start seeds inside early so they are healthy and strong when they go out to the plots....So what I thought was seeds are cheap to mail and we all like to have friendship flowers growing as sweet reminders of people who care.Fresh homegrown vegetables in the summer are the best!
So let's do a swap!!! Rules to join at bottom of post....

Rules for seed swap~ 1) You must be a follower of my blog (want people I know more likely follow through)
2) You must be within the USA so this will be cheap and fun
3) Seeds can be collected from your garden or bought(really cheap at walmart or lowes) but must be labeled so we know what they are
4) You can sign up to swap seeds with 1-3 differnt people I'll send you the addresses for the number of people you choose remember it's cheap to ship seeds so have fun with it.
5) You can send flower or vegetable seeds but each envelope must have at least 3 varities and at least 5 of each seeds so if you are sending sunflower seeds make sure there are at least 5 seeds.

Tuesday's Display Chain Out of the Closet Hidden Obsession

I struggled with this weeks display chain.Couldn't decide if I wanted to do old hangers, bowls, buckets or what.I have alot of favorites but when I thought about it, what I needed was the hidden things that I don't normally show.. So here it is...A bit weird but interesting non the less.I don't collect these items and don't display them in my house...I sell them...I've always been drawn to victorian customs and this branches from that.Old Religious and Mourning Items. Some are pretty and some are a bit gothic........ Ornate Victorian Religious Alter. There is a place for a cross on the back and I believe a rosary was placed on top....
Mourning Pictures for remembrance....
Sad..Child weeps..
Pretty image of angel carrying child to heaven
Mourning pin..
Large early 1800's Bible....
Mourning Bonnet...
German Composition Angels...
Girls before christening.....
Mourning book with bible verses circa 1877
A bit weird but it was a custom to take pictures of the dead...For most families this was the only picture they had of loved ones..
Very rare advertisement for memorial cards...
I always find these items when out searching..They are unusual....Now head over to Misi's and check out the other display chain links. http://1890gablehousemusings.blogspot.com/2011/01/tuesdays-display-chain.html

Gifts from Dad

Oh my where has the week went? I've been busy trying to fit errands and shipping in between the snow and ice.I don't drive in it so I've been squeezing everything in at once.I love winter and snow as long as I'm snuggled in my warm house. We are supposed to get 5-7 inches tonite...It's ok I've got everything I need now.I went to visit dad the other night and he had some wonderful prims for me.He works for a auction. He bought me this early antique wood hay fork..... It is very old early 1800's...Hand hewn and carved.Wood pegged together. It even has some wonderful old worm holes in the wood.Let me tell you this is huge. The biggest one I've ever seen.Hubby says it had to be used for oxen since it's so big.I just have to find a place for it..
Don't mind the clutter.I wanted to get pics quick...
Can you guesse what this is?

It's a chicken grabber. This one is neat because normally you hook their necks but this one grabs the leg instead. Also love the advertising for June Bug Feeds on the wood handle. My Pap Pap raised chickens on his farm so these are a reminder to me.He had many trophies for his beautifully breed Roosters..This is my second one in my collection my other one is a neck grabber with a worn red handle. They hang on a ladder from the ceiling in the kitchen.Just a reminder to sign up for my giveaway posted on top sidebar.Warm Blessings!~Amy
