Tuesdays Display Chain ~ Recently Acquired

Today has been frustrating and I was gonna skip display chain today but felt left out so had to do a post. The frustration comes from the fact I've been waiting months for hubby to paint inside and he finally has time.So I went to Lowes and after being told that my 2 color picks couldn't be matched I went with one of their charts.Simple right? Nope..Wanted a tan/sand color she said I couldn't get satin in the color so mixed it with a pastel eggshell. When I got home and hubby put it on the wall it was grey.He called and the girl said it was the lighting I have a 8 foot bay window and the sun was shining. He explained he's been painting 20 years and her 100 excuses she gave made no sense got nowhere. She said they didn't do anything wronge and the best they could do was darken it some..Yep just what I want dreary darker grey color..I then cried because I wanted simple and now it was complicated and after just spending $200 on paint I was stuck with Grey with a pinky tint.I called Lowes and ask to talk to the manager explained to her I wanted Tan and I had pinky grey and explained that it was mixed into eggshell which hubby said muted the tan out and the girl in paint said non refunable she agreed if I came for Tan and it's going on grey it's not right so she agreed to exchange it and have the regular guy my hubby works with mix my paint......Frustrating.....Anyway onto display chain today's theme recently acquired..Top pic early wood measure I picked up at the fleamarket this weekend..Below sweet child's shoes.... Antique red cupboard I purchased at auction a few weeks ago..Before...
After hubby refinished it..Can't wait till the painting is done so I can bring it in from the garage...

Now hop over to http://1890gablehousemusings.blogspot.com/2011/03/tuesdays-chain-recently-acquired.html Misi's to check the other displays.Warm Blessings!~Amy

Hi Amy, I hate it when you get home with the paint and its not right. Glad it worked out. I really love the childrens shoes, I collect them also, getting harder to find, I have a blue velvet pair coming. The cupborad really turned out well, can't wait to see what you put in it. Vicky

i know how you feel when you spend money and feel scalped. I bought a quilt off ebay, it was supposed to be blue and cream and the one i got was brown and snot brown. Apparently paypal protection doesn't cover color mistakes, which is considered "not to my liking" 96 bucks in all. It still sours my gut. So i feel for you. Perhaps keep the paint to paint inside closets or basement work shop shelves or behind the washer and dryer or something?

We have wallpaper in our bedroom - we tried 3 times to have paint matched to the background color of the wallpaper for the adjoining bathroom. It's still not right, and it makes me so mad whenever I look at it!! So I understand your frustration.....
Love what you've done with the cupboard!! Can't wait to see it in the house and all decorated up!
Have a lovely evening....

Amy, I love your old shoes and the cupboard is beautiful.
I am so sorry you went through that with the paint, they should have retruned your money because that was WRONG and it was their FAULT, I was about to cry when I was reading it. Your heart was broken I could tell when I read about this whole mess!
You cheer up my friend, remember "KARMA"!!!

Prim Blessings and a Big Huge Hug from me,

Sorry about the paint. It happens way too often. I guess that's why they have so many of those mistakes in their bins.
The shoes are adorable. I love them.
Now that I see your cabinet, I regret not having painted mine before bringing them in. I know I would be happier if they were made over, but hubby likes them as they are so I will leave them ---for now! Yours is prim-a-liscious!

It's sad you had to go to the manager to straighten out the paint problem! I think she just didn't want to admit she mixed it wrong! Glad everything worked out. The red cupboard is looking good...can't wait to see it inside with your touch put to it! :)

I feel your furstration. I am glad you kept on till you got someone who would help you. Finding the right paint color is one of the hardest things for me to do. We ended up wasting so much money when we did our bath upstairs trying to get the right color. We now buy the little samples but they are not always available. Hope you will get the color you want this next go around.

Hi Amy, bless your sweet heart!! I would have been crying too. I am so glad they are working with you on it and that you will be able to get the color you want. Paint is hard to pick, I want to redo the guest bedroom and I can't decide on a color.
I love the cabinet, Hubby did an awesome job!! The shoes are adorable and I also love the wood measure. Great treasures!!
Hugs to you sweet friend, hope the painting process is going better today.
Blessings,
Lorna

Amy.
I am glad they fixed it. I am surprised that she would have done that. Usually Lowes' is pretty decent about the paint. I can understand why you would be upset.
Love your cabinet and those little shoes are very sweet!
I am sure you will pull everything together nicely.
Hugs,
Renee
