Merriment Chain Day 8

Oh my that sweet little elf on the shelf. We've had the tradition since I can remember.Ours was always in red and still today that's the one that touches my heart. As soon as I set him on the shelf my smile appeared and still when I walk by and see him the smile comes back.Growing up he would usually appear on the corner of the living room door to watch us and report each eve back to Santa. You were warned you better behave or he was gonna tell santa and no presents for you.My baby brother would always cry as soon as he saw him appear.(usually everyday when he remembered or saw him) I guess he figured he was definately gonna be on the naughty list..smile...I'm joining in the fun of the merriment chain hosted by Misi and Robyn.Click on the links on my sidebar if you want to join in the fun.Warm Blessings!~Amy

I had no idea the elf was spying for Santa. He makes you smile so he must have always told Santa how good a little girl you were.

We just started this tradition for Silas....he doesn't seem to care one way or another about his elf but give it a few years. ;0)

That is so cute! We too did the "spirit of Christmas" with a Russell Stover candy box elf. Our kids loved it. Your display is so cute

We play the elf game with the grands. I hide it every morning and they look for them at night. They make me smile too! Janice

My Mom has a elf at her house too for when my son goes over there, it's like he is following him. Kinda creepy, huh? Anyway, my mom forgot to put him away after Christmas and my son was over there and when he saw the elf he was like "what's he doing here?" He was kinda upset too. ;)
Fun memories!

I had no idea that Elf on the Shelf was created that long ago. I figured it was something new just the past 5 years or so. That's how much I know. Boy, we missed the boat on this one. My girls don't even know what it is. That's ok.....I just tell him that Santa comes around and checks every night. They still beleive that one:) Have a great night. -Steph-

I love the elf on the shelf thing. There are some cute pictures floating around this year of the elf getting into mischief. I used to do something similar with my niece and daughter with a tiny fairy...that way it could be all year long lol! It's all in good fun to mess with them a little :)
Have a lovely week!
Warm hugs ~ Jenn
