A Few of my favorite things ~ Special Post for Tammy's Giveaway

Tammy at A Primitive Place is having a giveaway for a prim prairie doll. Her link is on the side bar under giveaways.Don't go there though because that will give me a better chance.LoL...Ok just joking I wish you luck..It really is a thoughtful prize and I love it! To earn some extra chances she asked we did a post of a favorite doll or teddy...Favorite antique or reproduction decor piece, and your favorite thing not decorating related. It was hard to chose as I have so many favorites. So here is a glimsp at a few of my favorite things......

Favorite antique would have to be my putz sheep collection. Here are a few displayed in a antique mercantile glass display cupboard. All are old. Most Germany. The shepherds are composition and hard to find.I love putz animals especially sheep.

Favorite bear or doll. Again hard to choose..But here is one of my favorites that always makes me smile. The pics didn't come out well. He's a reddish brown color..He always wears this little vintage sailor hat I gave him......

He's a big boy at about 2 ft tall...I assume he is english because of his big head.(most old english bears have the bigger heads) He is fully jointed. And the very best part.........

He has a working growler so when you pick him up for a hug he still growls.....He never wears the pumpkin hat he was just helping with a pumpkin costume I listed on etsy...

So there's two of the three...The last one Non Decorative favorite was soooo easy for me.I knew right away...Hmmmm what could it be?

Keep going.I know you can't resist looking at him he's a handsome fellow...But the next thing is even sweeter.promise.......Just a little further down.....

Ok and here it is!!! Fur Babies..Little love snuggle bums...Just two darn cute and they love you back unconditionly. What could be better? This one is my favorite but mung is a daddy's boy and loves my hubby the most.....

Gus Sugar Baby thinks he's a dog and loves mung the most......And last but not least...

Boo my ever loyal dog.he's had a hard little life and is a well behaved smart dog who loves his momma soooo much for saving him.I know he's sticking his tongue out at you but he really is a sweetie.(smile)

So I hope you enjoyed my little post. Now go on over to Tammy's and sign up for the giveaway.

Simplify

I'm a hoarder, no not as bad as that popular show hoarders but a hoarder non the less.I'm also somewhat of a perfectionist and stubborn as well. These are not good charateristics of a person trying to SIMPLIFY there life. You would not know these things by meeting me or coming for a visit. You would say my house is clean and well decorated or that I'm a great cook.No I'm not compulsive or anything ....First off I just love stuff old things I think of the history and how it made it this far...New things I think of the love that went into making that special hand did...So it's hard for me to let go.Don't get me wronge I do let go alot but it's hard and I have a room were I stuff things I change my mind about like that sweet old bear and the childs red chair. No I don't miss it being out of my decor or room but I'm not ready to let it go.....

I go to great measures to make sure people are happy and comfortable when visiting.I will make sure the house is nice, that you have good food and my complete attention.I come from old values and think your company is a pleasure and you should feel special during our time together....

I like things to be nice and a certain way..When I go to your house I don't expect perfection or anything special just your time.Soooo this last few months I have decided to Simplify..I would say it's going fair.I'm still stubborn but am realizing to let things go.I've been eliminating clutter and learning to hold on to the things I really love, and in reality I don't miss any of it.When you come for a visit you may just get Pillsbury bake and serve chocolate chip cookies instead of homemade. The moral of the story relax, let go and enjoy the simple joys of life.Know what's important Family,Friends and Home.

Enjoy the above scenes of simplier times and simple pleasures.....Harvest Blessings!~Amy

Tuesday Display Chain Make Do

In earlier times people worked hard, struggled and knew the value of their earnings.Things were built to last unlike todays and there was no Walmart to run to if you needed something.People learned to "make do" with what they had. They altered, repaired and repurposed to make what they needed.Today we still "make do" with our arts and crafts and decorating, not out of need but because we want to be in touch with our past....... This is the first display chain I've done.I thought long and hard about the make do theme and thought of tons of things I used to have like wood trenchers with a barn tin patch, tools repurposed etc..They have long went to other homes. Then my mind which likes to work hardest when I should be fast asleep decided yes you do still have make dos and these are the items I picked....

This antique large 15 gallon crock someone took extra time to turn it into a perfect butter churn.I have many crocks and butter churns but this one is unique that it was altered for this butterchurn. It has a hand made wood lid with clamps to hold it secure. On top is a crank handle to churn.

Inside are three metal paddles to whip the cream into butter..

They even thought to add a spout to drain the leftover "buttermilk" from the butter.Boy was that buttermilk a extra treat in days of old..

My primitive house I just adore.Purchased in Lancaster PA. It is made out a old biscuit box and the inside still retains some of the label and has the painted lettering.Probly made by a father who could not afford mercantile bought toys as a gift.
Bear Baby. He's listed in my etsy shop if anyone loves him and wants him in there home.He has a straw stuffed mohair body and composition baby head.So well loved over the years. Not sure of his orgins but I like to think that they were two toss aways that a servant mother collected from a spoiled child and made into a loving creation for her child.Or maybe they made these but I've never seen them.
Modern day make do by me..Pinkeep..Old apothercary measure reads uncle sam on the glass, lavender filled muslin sachet to hold my antique pins. I know I'll think of tons more after this is finshed.LoL.Hope you enjoyed my display of one of a kinds.Harvest Blessings!~Amy
