Not much going on and Some Finds

Well girls not much going on this week.Mung (dog) has found a toad in the yard which he is obsessed with.We threw it over the fence twice but it keeps coming back.I like them they mean luck but if he keeps coming back he won't fair so lucky.LoL..Mung is a paw talker which means he pats and claws at things and likes to toss things in the air with his mouth...Been rainy here..Good for the garden today was suppossed to be severe storms. We had one come through around 8 am knocked down the canopy and we had to unplug everything. But now it's clear till later tonite.Drives me nuts the TV hipes everyone into a frenzy then nothing. So when it really does happen people don't pay attention.I'm one that's slightly prepared for whatever comes my way.. Hubs found this for me...Do you know what it is??
A beautiful antique wool hetchel..Now I have Two. He tried to tell me to get rid of my other one but it was so differnt I couldn't part with it. I am sticking to my rule of one thing in one thing out.Got rid of a antique green chippy paint bucket for this...
Antique Hay Fork...
This next one I debated on.Was on the fence because wasn't sure if I wanted it but thought no one at market would give me a reasonable price and didn't feel like shipping....
I do this alot lately with market because in our area they are getting cheap or just don't understand good antiques. The Walmart generation..sigh.. and the older people who do understand don't need things.Recently hubs was driving through town and saw this young guy throwing stuff into a dumpster. He noticed some of the old chippy paint, iron planters in the dumpster, so he stopped to ask if he could have them. The guy says I don't want people taking stuff out.He said his grandfather died and he needed to clean out the pole building. So hubs said I'll pay you for them and the other stuff in the building. He says no.He then says I'm only throwing away the stuff that looks like junk and no one will buy.Hubby tells him well you are throwing away good stuff now.The guy just couldn't understand the value in the old stuff so hubs gave up.LoL..
Love the lady liberty..Antique Shredded Wheat printed shipping box...It ended up as my side table by the couch for my Ipad and magazines to sit..
Tomorrow I'm planning a picking day trip.Hubby fixed my jeep so all should go well.Yes I put water and tools just in case.but fingers crossed nothing goes wrong..Hopefully will find some goodies..Not much happening been working on my swap gifts and puttering around the garden.Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!~Amy

Oh yippee, that's a lot going on :) Even for Mung! Yeh, I imagine it's best to dumpster dive when the throw awayer is not around. June is flying by. We're in the Duracho's path now. Luckily we've had no damage.
Take care!

Hmmmmmm... can't understand why that man wouldn't let your hubby take the stuff he was throwing away.....makes no sense to me at all! And to not even sell it to him? Oh well.... some people....
Must be hard to let go of some of the good items you find when you go picking.... Love the new items you have, and happy picking tomorrow!

It's amazing the awesome things some people will throw out thinking no one would be interested in them.

I would be thrilled if someone wanted to take my stuff I was throwing away. Feel guilty putting things in trash. He didn't even want to take money..? Strange!
Love all your goodies. I have the same rule, 1 thing in 1 thing out!
Have a great one!

Ha, ha, Hannah used to play like Mung!!! Saw her flipping a rat up in the air one day . . . I screamed! I don't like rodents (and here I'm always saying I want to live in the country!!)

Oh, man, that is terrible that he wouldn't let your hubby take or pay for the junk! I bet there was some good junk in there!!!

LOVE LOVE the antique shredded wheat box! I eat that every morning for breakfast!!

I just have to snap some photos of my goodies that I'm sending for the swap . . . and off they go!

Good pickins tomorrow, sweet Amy!

xoxo

Hi Amy,
We had some storms here, but nothing too bad. Heard that there was a tornado in a county northwest of us.
Isn't it a shame when someone throws away old things thinking that they are just junk for the trash.
Hope you had fun on your picking day!
hugs,
Cindy

My Kody is tossing and shaking stray cats. Arrggghhh. He thrashed them like he does his rope that we play catch and tug with. Too many starving strays and I'm not a cat lover but hate to see them starve, so I have taking food and water over there so they stay out of our yard and out of Kodys mouth.

That printed box is an awesome find. Love it. Becs

Morning Amy!
So many wonderful finds!
I love the hay fork ~ I just picked up a hay rack while antiquing on Friday. (will share soon)
If I were your hubs I'd go back and dumpster dive ~ why let awesome prims go to the landfill.
Not much going on here either ~ I'm doing much of the same as you.
We had a wicked storm roll through last night.
Hope your day is sunny and bright!

Oh gosh girl, I've REALLY missed your blog and all the awesome antiques you guys find! LOVE that hetchel! I've never seen one like that. I found a regular one last week at an antique mall for a really good price. I was thinking they didn't know what they had. Then I lifted the comb up and there was nothing there but a few little spikes, lol... it was bare. I want one but not that bad. Good for you in sticking to your rule of one thing in and one thing out. Not sure I could do that but I do know that you have lots of awesome antiques so it would be hard to choose. Love the hay fork too!

I can't believe that guy was throwing stuff away and not even letting your man buy it. What is up with that? That's like throwing money into the dumpster. I know lots of people don't get the whole antique thing (like my family, lol) but that's just crazy if you have a willing buyer.

So good to be catching up with you again my friend. I hope to stay in touch, I've missed you!

Have a delightful week~

UGH! here is your hubby tells him, you have good junk, offers to pay and doesn't take it? really? so sad to think that stuff is now in a landfill and it didn't need to be...
Happy hunting, hope you found good things!
PS... yes, I am getting my sea legs back so to speak... it's been a long couple of months of mind buggling mess... but we are getting through it. HUGS! OLM

Amy,
I agree with OLM. Good grief! I was reading about the dumpster thing, and I wanted to shout, "Just let him have the junk!!!!!" I don't understand. Maybe there was bitterness there as a motive behind him throwing it away. Love your finds! I love wood that has that special patina! Awesome box! I agree with everyone else- you have such awesome finds!

Your story about Mung made me giggle as I watch Charlie play with his toy, I think he would be a head shaker with the toad. That would not be good for the toad.

This was a fun post to read! Blessings and hugs!

Wonderful treasures there.
Oh my goodness I could feel my dander rising reading about that guy throwing away things and NOT letting your hubby have them. What is wrong with people...i call that selfish.
But good for him for trying to change the guys mind (to no avail).
Blessings,
Karen
