Rainy Day

Cold rainy, windy day here.Good day for snuggling in but I'm busy cleaning and rearranging things around the house.I get frustrated with clutter. I think I want simple and cozy then I see a magazine or blog and think I want the clutter back.LoL..I have trouble with getting rid of certain things but lately it's hubby who is holding me back..Normally it's the opposite but like today I had a antique cupboard I wanted to get rid of.He said it's too big to take to market and too nice of a piece to get rid of.I think alot of it is that he thinks I'm upset because when we were struggling I sold a few pieces I didn't really want to.But I'm ok with it bills were more important than stuff at the time.So I moved the cupboard to the sun porch. His friend is helping me with moving some things thank goodness..That way hubby won't be incompatitated ...
The weekend was warmer 50's .I went to the fleamarket to look.Hubby decided he would try to stay with me,well let's just say he was very patient..smile.. I know I was driving him nuts.He likes to run through and find the big bang stuff like old farm stuff, signs, butter churns, crocks.Well I like those things but I like to dig to and find the littles and long lost treasures that everyone looks over.I also like paper ephemera which he totally doesn't get..smile..To me the old lithos, advertising, journals, photos and letters are like looking into history and someones life.I also like old books from the 1800's to early 1900's and will go through boxes and boxes to find interesting ones.I kept telling him to go ahead but he stayed pretty close. We rarely go to fleamarket together. When we set up it's different He watches the stand and I run after it's set up and the early rush is gone while he sells.I did by a big box of victorian postcards and valentines. He says you have boxes and boxes of them at home..I'll sell most but will enjoy sitting and going through them.I don't collect them just enjoy the nostalgia...
Not much new happening my way just general life keeping me busy. Been stopping in and visiting everyone just not commenting as much as my computer time has been limited.Hope you all are having a great week.Warm Blessings!~Amy

Your digging at the flea markets sounds like my digging...only I am not as able to dig as I once was :) Guess,I could say, that might be a good thing. I get rid of so much stuff, them go bringing more home....glad I am not the only one who does that though...I know there are many of us who find ourselves doing that sort of thing :) Blessings

Last year i sold a few large pieces that were sitting in my shop just to display/hold candles.. i figured that if i don't have them in the house to enjoy then they really are not as precious to me as my sanity is over paying the bills~ Took them to market and have not looked back...lol till i went to clean & stock the shop for spring and realized those pieces i had in my mind for displays are GONE!.. oh well i say - It's a better time now .. and the hunt for new treasures is always so much fun!
Oh I love old cards & letters Amy ..wishing you a cozy day my friend!

I almost tripped over my tongue when I saw your pic...I have an uncontrollable passion for graniteware. Yours are beautiful. The fleas around here are all new imports right now...very little old stuff. I can't wait until the outdoor markets open up. Enjoy your week!....Jan

Oh boy can I relate with everything you just said. I
have recently sold some things
and then I buy more things, I was
talking to Kendra about de-cluttering. I sometimes think I'm going to sell everything and start
all over again. Have a great week.

Hi Amy :) It's rainy and dreary here too. I've got painting to do although I need to get rid of some things too. It's good you and your hubby can come to a happy medium while shopping.

Yeah, rainy here in Alabama too. I love the little sheep and bunny. Sometimes the little things are really great, aren't they?

Beautiful granite. Just the color I search flea markets for to add to my collection. I have been trying to rid clutter to make it easier to clean. I part with some things if I find one that is not a reproduction to replace with. Blessings! Lara

Hi Amy,
Well every now and then a rainy day is fun...but when it's cold that's no fun.
That's how it was when we were in PA last week...
I am like you...trying to thin things out and then see inspiration pictures in magazines and then I'm searching for those things to add to my all ready clutter...lol
But I'm getting way better.
Blessings,
Karen
