Chit Chat and Update on Dad

Oh my Wednesday already! Here lately life just seems like I never stop running..Easter was nice beautiful weather. Now it's cold and windy again. But the weekend is supposed to be nice.I'm excited because I've been saving my pennies for a auction. There is another big one listed for the same day which I'm hoping everyone will go to and the little one I'm going to will be empty. It has blue decorated crocks and firkin's tucked in the basement so maybe I'll get a little prim treasure.I usually don't fair well at auctions as I usually get outbid or get home and am disappointed by what I got for the money. That's why I like flea markets and yardsales instant gratification and you know the price and can move on if you want..smile...Easter was spent at Grandma's farmhouse.Brianna was on a mission to give all her candy away because she was afraid of rotten her teeth. She went to the dentist and had a cavity it's only a baby tooth but now she doesn't want sugar..Hannah wanted me to explain why sheep were a symbol of spring/Easter so I told her we are all the lambs of God and he is our shepherd that we follow....Yesterday I had the girls and we just hung out at the house but Hannah wanted fried chicken, mashed potatoes, biscuits and succotash because Memaw won't make Lima beans for them..Their mom (my evil sister) moved down the street from them and they are not quit sure how to react.I was thankful she wasn't around for Easter just made the day more pleasant for everyone...
Yardsales and flea markets are back in swing. So Wednesday is my only free day anymore. We have to pay for the whole month in advance now in order to keep our spot so if it rains we are out of luck. But the plus side is I don't have to leave at 4:30 am can wait till around 5:45 since I don't have to worry about getting a good spot....
I haven't posted on Dad for awhile because I received a few rude comments well actually 2.But so many of you email and ask that I decided to not let a few people whom have no compassion get me down...Dad has 2 weeks of Chemo left then has to go for a full body scan hopefully he'll be cancer free (keep praying). The colostomy bag still gets in his way but he his getting better with it.He has been working a day here and there and it hurts him alot with the surgery and being down for so long his muscles need built back up but he does push a little to hard.We talked to the Dr and he said do what you think you can handle. The thing is dad has not taken the morphine or other pain meds except while in the hospital and right after which I think is a big plus that he has gotten through it without depending on the drugs...He still depends on me a little to much though.I think if he is able to work here and there he is able to do some of the things he ask of me.It takes alot out of my week doing his errands and such. Now don't get me wrong I would and will do anything he needs but some things I think he just is used to me doing and can do for himself now.I do have my own household to manage as well and just need to learn to start saying No sometimes...If his scan goes well and the Doctors release him to work he will going back to doing auctions..The Social Security still hasn't made a decision so I still struggle to help him with some of his bills and such.We did have his dr call one bill and tell them he has cancer and hasn't worked in a year so they put his back bill in suspend but I had to pay his gas bill the other day because he had a shut off notice..So I am looking that he will have a future now instead of the day to day like I was. We'll see after the chemo and scan....I have been visiting you all but just haven't been commenting much.My computer time is limited and life so busy right now but know I am visiting and enjoy my time spent with you.Oh I thought you would enjoy this online magazine it's free and has some wonderful ideas Spring Homestead  Hope you all are having a wonderful week!~Amy

Glad to hear all is well. Why do some people make hurtful comments on blogs, I just don't understand that. Why can't people just not follow that blog if they don't care for it? Sorry that that happened, I personally am glad to hear that your Dad is doing better and that things are looking up in that department in your life but I will continue to pray for both of you.

Trusting in Him,
Kendra

Hi Amy, So glad you had a good Easter. The auction sounds really great hope you find some goodies, haven't been to one since I was a kid. Glad to hear your dad is doing well, hope everything turns out well when he gets through this and goes for that body scan. I know when my dad went through this, as he got better, he felt like doing more, so he quit leaning so much on me and my sister, but we were always there if he needed help. Just hang in there I know it is been hard on you both physically and on your emotions. Just wanted to let you know I care about you and your dad, I think about you a lot actually. Sending you a big hug and prayers to you and your dad. Hugs Vicky

I was just looking around my living room at the wonderful goodies you had given me in our swap...I thought of you and smiled!!

Oh, Amy, first of all, I hope that you get some goodies this weekend. I understand about your dad, it is hard to decide what to do for them and if you are doing too much. Such a balancing act, you are afraid not to help, but wondering if too mych help is hindering their recovery. I hope you can find the balance. Thoughts and prayers, hang in there. Rude comments? How sad for them.

Dear Amy:
You sound very happy and busy. As far as comments on here, this is YOUR blog and as such, you talk about your life and what's going on in your world. How dare someone leave a rude comment. They shouldn't read if they don't like something. I'm so glad your Dad is recovering more each day. You are so good to do what you do. We took care of my mom and her errands and bills for years, even after she moved in with me. It's hard but hey, they raised us, right?
Hugs,
Susan

Hi Amy!
Glad to hear some things are going well for you.
Don't like to hear that some people have to take the time to be cruel ~ obviously they have never had any pain in their life.
Hope all goes well with your Dad and that you get the news you've been waiting for "Cancer Free"
We'll say some prayers for that.
No flea markets have started up around here ~ usually not until May or June ~ I'm just dying to go.
Hope you have a wonderful week!

I really think techanically has made us so rude...we say things we would never dream of before...some need to think before they type!!! sending hugs!!! ALWAYS please keep us up todate !!!!
And that 'evil sister"...feel for ya... I got one 2...ugh.... hugs!!! OLM

Hi Amy, sounds like you had a nice Easter. Hannah seems to be a southern food lover like myself! It also sounds like you are super busy. I'm glad things are seeming to be looking up for your dad. I will be praying that the chemo and scan go well!

Oh yikes - looks like I've fallen a bit behind here (and all over the place unfortunately!) So glad to get an update on your dad and to read that things seem to be looking up. Wow - how great would that be if he could get back to some kind of work routine! I'll continue to hold him and you/your family close in prayer. Sounds like those girls have a great auntie! ;o) (And, gee, it's somewhat comforting to know I'm not the only one with an evil sister....) Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

I'm with you girl on the whole auction bit. I prefer that "instant gratification" from flea markets and yard sales, too. I get to anxious at auctions, then I get disappointed cause I always get outbid.

Glad to hear that you dad is up and around and feeling better. Praying for you all! Hope he gets that release to go back to work. I know that will make him feel better. It's so hard to be down when we are used to going.

Pay not a bee-buzz of attention to those with cold hearts and cruel comments. In every hive a stinging bee will be found ~ I like to think the stinging comes from some perceived fear in their heart or mind (present or past). What matters is that you give such comments no heed!

Wonderful news that your Dad is back to doing a few things and as many have mentioned I too believe it's a positive step (for him as well as you) that you begin to return bits of his life-responsibilty back to him.

Hope you have/had a bit of luck at the auctions!

Hugs to you!
