Super Sunday

Good Sunday Friends! I don't get much into football but do love the food and commercials...I have cocktail smokies in the crockpot,a coconut cream cake and hubby is making chili so I'm covered if someone "drops" by...I plan to go to grandma's old farmhouse for Sunday Lunch/Dinner and to visit awhile..Yesterday was just a lazy day...
We got some surprise light snow. There is still a coating on the ground and a little snow supposed to fall today..Made my heart joyful being cozy at home with the snow lightly falling..I did some sewing (not my favorite thing) Did some make ~ do Bunnies but they are for swap gifts so I can't show them. They turned out cute but I think Mrs Granny Trace lied she told me sewing makes you not crave cookies..smile..Well I had a cookie and 2 dove dark chocolate cherry hearts.Granted it takes me forever to sew.I can sew just don't enjoy it....Friday Hubby got his tooth pulled but our regular dentist had the flu and since we are rural there was no other places that could take him so we had to drive 1 1/2 hours one way to go to the oral surgeon..The GPS took us down alot of wonderful back country roads.I didn't bring my camera but I know in reality hubby would not have accommodated the pull overs for pics anyway. He was in so much pain...
One ramshackle old farm had a barn falling down next to the road I could see it was stacked full with old galvanized wash tubs, wood buckets, tin feed signs  pitter patter goes my picker heart if I can ever find that house again(yes we were very back road) I'll surely knock and ask what they are doing with that stuff. Then we drove past a antique barn and they actually had fleamarket vendors set up outside it about killed me not being able to stop.(Yes I know it was cold but there was  junk  treasure sitting on those tables) There were 2 big antique shops one in a renovated barn.I did get hubby to promise to take me on a day trip back there soon.(Although we will be broke for awhile LoL) The dentist was $400 not including 3 prescriptions and gas...He's still in pain but feeling better we are both people who try to tolerate pain as we don't like pills....On another note I remember doing punch needle when I was young and would like to learn again.Do any of you know of any vendors online that sell prim kits for beginners? I want the cloth already printed, the threads/floss and needle in one pack.I do have a small hoop already that came with a rug hooking kit.I want it easy to learn...Well girls hope you have a wonderful and blessed Sunday!~Amy

Ohhh....so wish I could pop in for snacks at your house!! I don't know what it is about the superbowl, but it just makes me want to cook and have tons of munchies and snacks around. This year, though, I didn't pick anything up and have nothing here to fix with. Boo Hoo. Oh well, I'll be reading up on contract defenses anyway. Glad your hubby got his tooth taken care of and hope the pain meds kick in soon. Don't know why something so little can cause so much misery, but they truly do.....Smiles & Sunday Hugs ~ Robin

PS - re your punching questions.....I don't know of any place that sells everything all together like that. Brenda Gervais (With Thy Needle & Thread - blog; Country Stitches (on line web site)) has amazing patterns - all come preprinted on the fabric, and she does sell floss kits to go with her designs (as well as the punch tools and hoops) - but they are quite detailed and probably not "beginner" level like you are looking for. Plus, she uses a lot of Valdani floss in her patterns - which is amazing stuff, but expensive. I would pick up a simple preprinted design (the majority do come preprinted on the fabric), and use simple DMC floss since that you can get anywhere and it's inexpensive. Many patterns use DMC or give DMC equivalents....) But, you really should invest in a locking lip hoop - a regular one won't hold your fabric as taut as it needs to be for punching.....If you have questions, let me know. Robin

So glad to hear that your hubby had his tooth taken care of -- nothing worse than a bad toothache. I also love taking back roads and finding new places. Most of my back-road adventures are because I am lost, however! But I have found some very interesting places in my day....
Enjoy the game -- go Giants!!

Oh wow..I would definetely be planning a road trip back to those places. Sounds like you could find some great treasures! Hope hubby's pain goes away soon. I too have been wanting to learn to punch needle. I found a small kit yesterday at Joann's Fabrics. Can't wait to try it.

Amy it would have killed me too not to stop. Being a nurse..I think I'd have asked for some "extra" drugs..and given them to him, so he'd pass out..and I could have stopped where ever I wanted..heheee!!! It's funny..because even though I am a nurse...I am not a pill popper either. It about kills my Mother when my kids get sick...because unless they are completely miserable I prefer to let it run it's course. She still doesn't believe me that a fever is a GOOD thing..as it's the body getting RID of the "yuck"..or that coughing is also a GOOD thing as your getting rid of the "gunk" in your lungs..ahh oh well!! I'll never forget the time she called me to tell me what my sister in law gives her kids when they are sick...so i could give the same to Kaden. I believe my answer...with a bit of sarcasm was..."Oh good..when did Rosie get the RN after HER name!!! Have a wonderful sunday! Katie

Hi,how are you tonight? I just watched Madonna do the halftime
show. She did a great job, she
had said how nervous she was in
an interview.
Glad your hubba's tooth is out and
he'll get better with the medicine.
Oh yes, you HAVE to go back the
way you went to the oral surgeon.
So much treasure on one road, yippeee!
Hugs,
Susan

Don't we all just love the dentist? NOT!! I know exactly what it feels like with hubby in car, the car drives right by a wonderful sale! It kills me as well to think of what treasures I am missing out on. I swear hubbies put on the gas when they see flea markets and garage sales. :-)

Doesn't it hurt to the bone to see treasures and not be able to stop?

Only if the dentist had given him some sedatives:) Then you could have stopped all you wanted. It sounds like a wonderful back road day trip. I love junk treasures. I hope you find that place again. I don't mind sewing if the project is small enough to do by hand. I really hate the sewing machine though. Hope you had a good Sunday. -Steph-

Amy your drive to the dentist sounded wonderful...but I'm feeling sad for your poor Hubby. There is nothing worse then tooth pain...and the bill afterwards. As for your needle punch kit....Joann fabrics use to carry them. They weren't primitive but the one I purchased a few years back I stained (walnut stain) and it turned out looking primitive. I hope this helps.

My Sweet Friend Amy oh how I know about the pain of needing a tooth pulled I had four pulled last month lol I am calling my mouth a work in progress. Dentist are so expensive and it funny how policies work most barley cover any dental if any but yet good dental will keep people in good health. I could only dream of places here having back roads of hidden treasures...sigh Wishing you the best week ever

Peace and Blessings
Cheryl...Snatch JOY~!

Sounds like you definitely need to head back over there for a day trip, or two, or three, hehe! I bet there were lots of treasures around there and they will be waiting for your return trip. =]
