7 Things About Me

This is a long post and picture heavy so you may want to grab a warm cuppa.Several people have graciously awarded me the
The most recent Robin http://primitivehutch.blogspot.com/ You are supposed to pass it along but I've decided that if you want to do a post as a get to know you just grab the award and list 7 Random things we might not know about you....1) I was born in the north but raised in the south. My step dad built parts of Epcot and Disney Lane..I was a beach bum we were always taking the boat to the islands or visiting secluded beaches....
2) I love the "Old" ways of the south...
I relate to Southern Belles and sometimes get called princess because of my stubbornness and wanting things proper and certain ways....Southerners are also slower paced and enjoy tradition and friendliness....
3) I love to cook and bake..I love good food but mostly simple southern style food.I think food brings people closer and have fond memories of church picnics and family gatherings. We still gather on Sundays at grandma's old farmhouse for lunch/dinner....
4) I hate cellphones..I think when you are in the company of others or out doing things you should not be worried who might be on the line. They do have answering machines. You should be taking the time to watch the road while driving, enjoying time with friends, making polite contact with the person waiting on you.Yes cellphones are good for emergencies, a quick call if being late, or the kids or hubby checking in...
5) I live in the North now and love all four seasons...I enjoy each for what it offers but I LOVE SNOW..Goes with my nesting tendency.Nothing better than being snowed in for a lazy day and yummy food.Watching movies, crafting,or reading....
6) I believe strongly what you put into the world is what eventually comes back to you.I believe people should be happy with what they have and strive and work towards what they want or who they want to be...I also believe if you put bad out there it's going to come back to you...
I'm a giver and give freely of what I have..I care about people to quickly..And always try to be nice and optimistic.BUT Once I've been hurt, lied to or taken advantage of I hold grudges.I know this is a flaw in me but forgiveness is hard for me.It's a bad thing because it eats at you and sometimes makes you not the person you are.Learning forgiveness is usually on my daily prayer list but I still struggle....
7) I love history..Family, Antiques, Civil War, Colonial you name it I want to know about days gone by.I love simpler times
Gotta love George....
I also like folk lore, remedies and ghost stories.Spooky history of days gone by.Sometimes tragic sometimes romantic ..... Since I've had a few eerie encounters yes I believe...
Ok so it's supposed to be 7 but I have 8) I Love old abandoned houses and barns..It's the picker in me as well as the explorer, mixed in with that love for old and history...Yes I get excited seeing this on a back road or on property hubby is restoring...
I dream about what could be hidden behind the old gates.....
What treasures were left behind that we now adore but were cast offs and left to weather...
Sometimes inherited by family who is the can't buy it at Walmart must be junk generation....Sometimes left by the people many years before and forgotten..
I wonder what made them leave it behind.Secrets to open and treasures to find...Stories to unfold....
I always get permission before going through old buildings or barns.....Hope you learned a little something about me.Would be interesting to see your Randomness as well so let me know if your going to post so I can stop for a visit..All Images in this post were taken from Google and are not my photo's...Warm Blessings!~Amy

Have a wonderful Saturday with your hubby.

Love this post, I have some of the same traits also, so nice to learn about you and such random things. The forgiveness thing, I too have it, have a quote hanging up be Corrie Ten Boom. To forgive is to set a prisoner free, and to realize that the prisoner was me.
So true.
Have a great weekend, thanks for sharing yourself.

Thank you for letting us get to know you Amy.
I agree, southerners are very friendly, but like you, I love the snow and the seasons.
And I can totally relate to the holding a grudge thing.
And all your thoughts on abandoned buildings and the things within them, I could have written myself :)

Have a lovely weekend,
Tiff

Great post Amy. I agree with you about the South, we lived in Chattanooga for 18 years, moved back to Ohio two years ago and it is like culture shock, LOL. We miss the south and can not wait to go back!! It is nice to get to know our blogging buddies better.
Warm Wishes,
Kim

I love history, too. I watch a lot of History Channel and PBS.
My hubby harbors bad feelings for a very long time but I am a very forgiving person. I prefer all relationships be on an even keel. Time is short. Loving old barns, home cooking, antiques, cemeteries, and the change of the seasons. Seems we do have a bit in common. Cell phones should be banned in public--in the stores, restaurants, cars........ I was raised on the river--we had a different kind of beach but a beach nonetheless. You are a versatile person!

I am so with you on the cell phones. I had to be pushed into getting one. I drive with it in the back seat in my purse. My family is always upset they could not get me. And really it was never that important.
wonderful post.

Dear Amy,
You are such a sweet gal. My sister is a "Southern Belle". Does that make me sort of one? She would say yes. It's so much fun to learn about the bloggers we follow.

Susan

Awesome post Amy!!!
Such a great way to to get to know our friends a little bit better.
I'm with you on the cell phones ~ my biggest pet peeve is when they bring them to work.
I wasn't very good in History ~ but I do love to learn about our past. You were right ~ we are so much alike ~ except the cooking!!!
Thanks so much for sharing!

Amy, what a nice post. I can relate to a lot of things you said except cooking and baking. Those aren't really my favorite things. My husband loves to cook so I got lucky there! Thanks for sharing with us!

Playing a little catch-up here - hope you'll forgive my late visit. I enjoyed reading more about you, although some of the things I knew....I, too, love old abandoned buildings and history and wonder whose hands used these things, how did they get here, etc. And, yeah, I "believe" in that other stuff too. ;o) Great photos (even if they aren't yours!) Loved reading more about you Amy..such a wonderful post and except for being in the South, I thoght I was reading about ME instead of YOU. I love old barns and houses and I also believe in ghosts, love history and antiques. Thanks for sharing. Staywarm and take care, Janice

I loved reading all about you. I too..look at old buildings etc. and wonder...wonder what it's history was...picture it with children playing in the yard..wondering who it was that lived there...called it home. I think I too...should have been born in a simpler time...at times...yet WHAT would I do without my..ok, right now...my sons..computer!! (AND him working and going to school so I can sneak on it,lol).

It's funny too..how reading these, makes me think even more about me..about who I am. Your comment about forgiveness...I think I'm the opposite. I'm far to forgiving...and trusting. And it's gotten me hurt badly in my life. Yet I wouldn't be who I am..if I didn't.

Thanks for sharing Amy. Ohhh...and by the way..I am NOT procrastinating on your package..I'm waiting on two more items and it will be ready to be sent!!

Have a great remainder of your Monday. Katie
