Seeing Double and Some Thank Yous

Yep I'm seeing double and no not from to many margarita's by the pool..smile...Saturday I went saleing and took very little cash well I came across the front spinning wheel in the picture..Well I was broke by the time I found it and waiting for funds to clear till monday.Hubby and I came home and keep thinking of it.We decided to go over and tell the lady not to negotiate on the price and if it didn't sell call us and we would buy it for her asking price on monday.Well she was so sweet and took our word that we wanted it and said she would go ahead and put it back till monday without a deposite. She was sentimental about the piece and wanted it to go to a good home..She found it in a Virginia farmhouse that she bought 40 years ago and has carried it with her since. She had it appraised 10 years ago for $650 (of course I didn't pay that) and let me say it's a beauty. The other one I have is more plain and primitive. The new one has more detail. One will be going to the sunporch. The first one is late 1700's and the new one is early 1800's..History in itself can only imagine the previous life...

The Burlap Owl recently had a sale and I bought the prim doll from her.(the one in the mustard dress) She is rag stuffed and reminds me of the old plantation dolls...

My best find..The little firkin...

To finish off this properly....

Antique counter jar..Would love to know if anyone knows what it held it has a S on both sides...

We kept it because S is our last name intial..Well plus I loved it..smile...

Lauren from http://rugsandpugs.blogspot.com/ does pug rescue and was helping the ohio pug rescue raffle votes for rescue expensives. If you donated she entered you in for a chance to win one of her hooked mats.Well I was lucky and won second place..Can't wait for fall!!

Traci from http://yorkmountainmercantilesales.blogspot.com/ shared some seeds and a sweet little diddy. She sent me love lies bleeding which I have wanted for years. Can't wait to get them planted under the trees...

My sweet secrect sister sent our summer swap.Watermelon apron, Sheep notepad,Sheet music print out and 2 magazines.I can't wait to look through the MaryJanes magazine.I recently found out who my secret sister was by accident but I don't peek at her blog and pretend it's still a secret each time a little gift arrives.Really knowing who it is is fine it puts a face to all her thoughtfull gestures, kindness and gifts..

Well I wasn't one of the ones complaining about the cold so I'm gonna grumble about the heat wave we are going through another 5 days to come of 100 degrees and humid.no rain in sight.I'm not a person who enjoys the HOT.I prefer fall and don't mind a good blizzard as long as I can be snug in my house..smile..I've been going through the loft and some other stuff and will be trying to get a blog sale posted this afternoon or tomorrow. Some new prims and antiques.Yes Robin I will be selling the antique acorn mold so pray your internet doesn't go down sweetie.I will probly do a couple of post and it will be paypal only by saturday afternoon so I can take the leftovers to fleamarket. There are always exceptions and you are more than welcome to email me.Just last time I had someone who talked me down on something ordered several additional things then never bothered to pay or even answer emails..Well girls stay cool and enjoy your day! Warm Blessings!~Amy

Mornin' Amy, I thought your camera was out of focus, LOL.. Love the spinning wheels!

And the new firkin and jar, both great finds... wonderful gifts you have received recently, too. I borrowed a couple of Mary Jane mags from my neighbor and it's a pretty good magazine.

Can't wait to browse your sale later...

Blessings,
Traci

Hi Amy,
LOVE all the great finds!

And you placed them so nicely!

The "S" on your jar probably is for "Sellers" They made Hoosier type cabinets and the jar you bought was probably an accessory for the cabinet.

Thanks so much for sharing your goodies!
Have a great day!

Hugs!
Kerri

Hi Amy, I love the spinning wheel, what a sweet lady to hold it for your. I love that doll too, I like the way you have dolls in that basket. I just might steal that idea if I ever get any dolls made.8-)
I've been absent more than present in blog land but I did read about your Dad and all he and you are going through. Just want you to know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.
I complained about the cold and swore when it was 12 degrees for days that I would never complain about the heat. I lied. I'm complaining.8-)
Have a great day sweetie!!
Hugs,
Lorna

What a wonderful treasure-laden post!! And how lucky are you to have not one, but two, gorgeous spinning wheels?!! (Ok - you have more, don't you???!) To me, nothing says "colonial" more loudly than a spinning wheel - and I love everything about them....Wish I had space (and funds!) for one! Love your Hoosier jar and little firkin too - perfect crowning touch for your awesome stack!! And Tina's dolls are wonderful...I could become addicted to them I swear. Have you seen her little witch dolls?? Too sweet! And congrats on winning one of Lauren's works of art - love it!! It's hot, hot, here too - today will again be record-breaking....I'm not gonna complain tho....summers are too, too, short here! Have a wonderful day! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

Hi, Amy!
Lovely goods. I'd love to have a spinning wheel; just don't know where I'd put it! lol
I collect old coffee jars and to me, it looks like it could be an old Solitaire jar but I've never seen one like that. Perhaps it is a Sellers jar. Just don't know. I have numerous ones shaped like that but just none with an S on it---very nice!

Your jar with the S is a Sellers jar. We have one sitting on our store counter in its wire holder and use it for peppermint candies for our customers. What lovely spinning wheels. I have a few myself, but not as big as yours, but both from the 1800's...I sometimes look at my things in the house and wonder who used this or that item and I truly feel honored to be able to have a piece of history in my possession. Love all of of your other goodies too! Take care, Janice
