But at the time we were planning the trip is when I found out dad had cancer so I decided to cancel.I didn't want to leave dad and at the time didn't know what to expect. He's doing so much better than expected and would have been OK for a few days...This will probly be the last year grandma makes it to the beach and the whole family on mom's side is there..So a little grumpy I'm missing...
And some of these by the pool...Hmmm could have some of these by the pool still..smile...Maybe I could talk hubby into pretending to by a waiter..
On a more serious note My dad is doing pretty good. He's tired of sitting around so has been doing some work on the farm I've been giving him heck because he overdoes it a little and it's been HOT here. He's been doing a little auction work too but not like he did.He gets worn out more easily now.The doctors were a little upset he lost a half a pound he's a small man already but he has been eating better real food not just take out so that could be why he lost a little.Oh and a question for anyone who has been through this,My dad told me he's getting radiation and chemo at the same time.He told me the pills he's taking are chemo pills and cost $5000 for two packs.Does that sound right to be getting both at the same time? I thought the pills were to make him not be sick during radiation but he says they are chemo pills so they don't have to use his veins. If anyone knows I'd appreciate it.I do look over alot of his papers but don't get to talk to the doctors alot so some things I have to figure out myself. My grandma says that's because dad doesn't want to burden me which I appreciate to a extent but I also need to know I do all I can for him.Well girls thanks for listening to my grumpiness...smile...Warm Blessings!~Amy

Amy, I am so glad that your dad is doing well. I have heard of people getting chemo and radiation at the same time.
I think you and your hubby should just get in the car and make a surprise weekend trip to Ocean City, I love it there.
Wouldn't that just make your grandma so happy. Hint Hint
Hope you can do it, have a great weekend. Hugs, Lecia
Hi, I had mine separately, I had 6 mths chemo, then 7 weeks daily rads, but a lot of people were doing both at the same time, I think it depends on the type of cancer you have. And losing weight is normal, I lost 20 lbs in 4 months, which was actually a good side effect. I am so glad that he is eating, and the more you do the better you feel. Sounds like he is doing great. Take care.
Hi Amy, So sorry to hear that your fun weekend had to get cancelled. Stuff like that is so disappointing. Don't blame you for feeling a little grumpy.
I have heard of chemo being delivered through a pill, but don't know much beyond that. Not positive that I've heard of doing radiation and chemo at the same time. Hopefully, someone will be able to give you more information about it.
I hope your junkin helps to make up a little for your missed trip!
Melissa
I hope today is the best junking day ever for you sweet Amy!* You deserve a wonderful day. 2 of my relatives & 1 friend have done both the chemo pills & radiation at the same time ~ It has been 4 years since & all are doing great !
..It's Friday - get hubby into a waiter costume & have fun!

Amy,
I'm not gonna be much help but to suggest to google the name of the meds your dad is taking. Your search should turn up something inregards to it. Then you will know for sure. One other thing you might wanna is to make sure that your dad has signed the HIPPA papers allowing the doctor to speak with you regarding his care. Then if you ever have any questions you can always call and speak with the doctor. It's always nice to have someone else checking and asking questions as it's a lot to take in.
On the trip to OC, I say go for a surprise visit too, even if it's just for the day. Nothing like a trip to the ocean to rejuvenate you. I wanna go for a long weekend soon and just need to convince the hubby that we can afford to do it and then find the time.
Happy junking.

I am not sure about that with the chemo, I think my Grandpa did both. It looks like some answers are given though from the other's posts. I am glad he is doing a little better. It's hard to sit still I am sure.
I hope you find some good junk today!
Sorry you didn't take your trip. I haven't taken a REAL vacation since 2003. I do hope to get up north a few times this year.
Have a great weekend.
Hugs,
Renee
So sorry about your weekend Amy! But the bright side...your dad is doing a bit better! Have fun junking!

Sorry you're missing out on your vacation, but agree, it would be so fun to go anyway if that is any way possible....Next best thing....haul out the blender and get a little bowtie and towl for the hubs and make your own ocean of fun....
Glad to hear your dad is doing better than expected. Yes - it is possible that he's on both chemo and radiation at the same time. You could call the pharmacist and they should be able to tell you for sure (or do an internet search) - but if the pharmacist will talk to you, that would be the easiest and probably the most complete info. Don't see why they wouldn't - you don't even have to use your father's name or anything - just give them the names of the meds and ask what they are for, etc.... Good luck!!
Hope you got to go junking and have a wonderful weekend!
Smiles & Hugs ~

Amy,
First Retail Therapy!!! It does wonders....
Yes, depending on the cancer they can do both! BUT.... Here is a few things he needs to be careful about, Losing weight BIG NO NO!!! Working out on the farm with dirt and such, can possible lead to other infections, his immune system is weakened. He at the very least should wear a mask...
Chemo is VERY expensive..SIGH! My mom's treatments where over 10,000 each time... Towards the end she started the pills, I honestly don't know what they would of cost, but , 5000 seems right... Any questions, email, I've ben through it, it's tough trying to keep everything straight in your head.... folkart94@msn.com Now go by yourself something great! and share with us! Thinking of you! OLM
Amy, Honey, I am truly sorry you didn't take the trip to the beach.
Being grumpy only makes you feel worse. Let it go and do something happy for yourself. I hope you found something amazing today. It is supposed to be dangerously hot here all weekend.
I know nothing about modern cancer treatment, but I am happy to hear your Dad is doing well. It would seem like the stronger people could handle more medication. I just don't know. I continue to pray for him.

Amy I'm so sorry you weren't able to go on your planned vacation.
Those darn bumps in the road.
Hope you find lots of goodies though.
I'm also glad to hear your Dad is doing better. I know one thing about people going through treatments is that it is a good thing that they eat ~ alot of times they are not hungry and thats how they become weak and frail.
If by chance you can catch up with your family ~ GO FOR IT!
Prim Blessings
Robin
