The big catch up post

Well girls it has been a while since I've did a real blog post.Lots of pics and catching up to do so you might want to grab some sweet tea or lemonade and get comfy...Hubbies back has still been very bad. Most days he can't even walk so he has been unable to work,We do not have insurance and last week he was in so much pain and couldn't walk again so we took him to the emergency room.Well they didn't even really look at him,did no xrays and the Dr just decided herniated/ruptured disk and sciatica with no exam and hubby kept telling him alot of the pain was in the hip joint.Their remedy tell him we'll be right back to get you out of pain. They went to lunch and forgot him for an hour. The dr comes back and says how are you feeling now? Ummm the same nothing was done.So they give him 2 shots leave for another hour and when he tries to get up collaspes. So they decided to do IV and do not tell us anything about what could happen.Well thy gave him double dose of morphin, valium and some other powerful drug and didn't tell us what they are doing.Well they leave again and hubby starts sweating profusely, his blood pressure went way up and he started talking about strange stuff and couldn't keep conscience. The nurse comes back and says lets get you on the way.Well the IV is still stuck in his arm and I suggest maybe you should take his vitals. She says he could have a stroke better lay back down a while. They leave again for a hour. It's been almost 6 hours I decide it be better to take him home and just put him to bed so I have to go search for someone to get the IV out and bring me a wheel chair. They refer him to one of there Drs and they tell me I need $500 for the intial visit, that the will do a xray but not really do nothing till the follow up visit and then they will need a MRI which will be at least $600.I tell her we don't have that kind of money.Hubby can't work and our bills need paid. And why when a xray will not show anything would I need that? She says she knows it won't show anything and isn't sure why they wouldn't just do the MRI.I say well we can't make the appointment since they don't do payment arrangements. Her response your OK with that? Well no but what can we do...So I've contacted several agency about discounted insurance. But it's a process..In the mean time I've been doing 3 flea markets a week. Then out searching for things to sell 3 days a week.I've been having one day off but that day is spent cleaning, running errands and such.So I've been busy....
We have been enjoying the Lancaster Flea Market it's a drive but the people are so friendly. It's very relaxing once your set up.Plus they have the yummiest food (mostly Amish) We get cherry turnovers, and mini pumpkin cream cheese muffins every week and I get to see my very dear friend Lisa. It's a tuesday market so it's a differnt crowd than weekends...Pic above and below are part of my stand...
More of my stand..That's about half of it..No one can believe I fit all that in my vehicle..LoL..I'm a good packer and hubby has the knack of piling it in right..
 Loved the round antique basket...
 Colonial hanging cupboard..

This market is in the middle of Amish country surrounded by corn fields. In the spring and fall the amish are out in the fields with there horse drawn plows..

Wanna take the girls here one day....It's on the way back from market..
My other camera broke so I'm late posting Thank You's for the wonderful swap goodies I recieved...
First up  Michelle  This was her first surprise swap. She sent the wonderful shoulder ditty which I use at market when I walk around early to find stuff..Salt dough fillers, punch needle box perfect for the dresser to hold jewelry..Thanks Michelle Love all the goodies you so thoughtfully hand made...
Next up is Sandi let me just say this girl is soo talented and creative and doesn't even realize it!
She just spoiled me rotten.Fall banner out of old book pages,Love the painting on burlap...The flag book and kettle painted by her.
She remembered I loved this from a comment on Robins blog..smile...
And some of her dough fillers.I have her bumble bees and michelle's flowers mixed together in a wood trencher...Thank you Sandi for everything you spoiled me and I'm honored to have some of your beautiful art  work...
Thursday was our small town carnival so we took the girls.Boy they are growing up too fast.I keep telling Hannah I want her to stay little longer and she politely explains she need to grow up so she can get married and have kids then I can they can spend time with me..smile...Brianna is in the tom boy stage right now..Of course wouldn't smile..
Hannah still all girl...Gotta giggle Hubby said hi to a lady he knows and Hannah ask who she was? I said Tom's friend.Hannah goes Oh his lady friend don't worry Amy you are prettier than her..smile...
Well girls if you made it this far thanks for sticking through.I visit you all just don't have as much time to comment. As soon as fall gets here things will slow down again.I'm so looking forward to Fall my favorite time of year.Warm Blessings!~Amy

Hi Amy,
You guys are sure having a time. Sorry to hear about hubby's back. I also don't have health insurance and it's very scary, you avoid getting the basics done because of the cost. Love our government for not making such a basic necessity affordable for all. If you get insurance now, check if there is a pre-existing clause and they won't cover hubby's back. Take care.

That's how I did the first one, most pain I have even felt, hubby had to lift me out of bed...Hang in there, it will be better, jsut slowly...sigh, I hope you can find a good doc taht will work with you.... everything is a money game... and it won't get better when the federal insurance kicks in...Doctors are just going to stop taking on patients...doulbe sigh...
Love you goodies, I so hope the flea markets are going well...

Yikees, your visit to the ER is very scarey . . . . we trust that the medical staff knows what they are doing but I have heard such horror stories.

I pray that your husband can get good care and be on the mend SOON!

Ohhhhh, the flea looks heavenly!! I'd love to shop at your booth! I visited Amish country way back in the 70s. I had a girlfriend who was going to college out in Newcastle I think it was, don't quote me on that. Saturday night was buggy races in town LOL

Sweet girls!! The youngest in our family are boys . . . I love them to pieces but they're not girls, ha ha ha

Ohhhh, fab swap goodies!!

Okey-doke, I need to get to some housework and put away the stuff I came home with yesterday!!

Hi Amy,
We went through the same kind of thing with our daughter when we had to rush her to the ER. They would say that they would be right back and then forgot about her and didn't come back in for 2 hours. Doesn't give me much faith in our hospital now.
Looks like you have a lot of great goodies in your booth at the flea market.
I have back problems and didn't have any luck with doctors...all they wanted to do was give me a bunch of drugs and I was not getting better. I found a chiropractor and am now pain free. We paid $75 for a yearly insurance plan that his office offers through PCD and I only pay $30 for each visit for treatment.
You got some great goodies from the swaps.
hugs,
Cindy

Amy I sure hope your hubby feels better soon. When my back is giving me trouble I live with my heating pad. I don't know if this will help him or not but it may be worth a try.

I enjoyed seeing your booth at market. The baskets are beautiful I can see why you like them. :0). It also looks like you received some wonderful treasures from your swap partners. I love the salt dough bowl fillers Sandi gave me too.....she does such a beautiful job. :0)

Hi Amy,
I'm sorry to hear that your hubby is having such problems with his back. My entire family has back problems and I know first hand that they can be downright horrible. It's a shame the hospital treated this with such lack of concern. I will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers. Your stand at the flea market is very impressive! It doesn't look like everything you showed here would even come close to fitting in our car lol. I too am looking forward to fall and hoping that fall will bring a much slower pace for us as well. Take care!

((Hugs)) Amy. I hope and pray your hubby gets the treatment he needs.

I'd so love to visit with you at the market especially being as it is right in the middle of Amish farms!
And those pastries sound perfect!

Hannah and Brianna are beautiful - if only we could keep them at that age for a little longer... so sweet!
Best wishes
Christine

Oh my gosh Amy,I sure hope your hubby gets to feeling better. I get so mad when it comes to medical care. Everywhere you go it seems to be about the almighty dollar instead of truly caring for a fellow human being. My son just had to have a MRI awhile back and I have never been so harrassed and bullied in all my life as I was by that hospital. We were even making sizeable payments and they just hounded us to death, threatening to turn us over to a collection agency. I told them that if hospitals want to be paid so darn quick maybe they should start thinking about what they charge and be a little more reasonable! I was just so frustrated! Sorry to go off on you but I was just fuming when I was reading about what you and your husband had to go through. It shouldn't have to be that way!

tj said...

...Oh Amy, I am so sorry to hear of all of this trouble! I'm shocked that the hospital didn't help you with financial assistance. I know here in Missouri most all of the hospitals with the exceptions of very small town hospitals, for the most part offer financial aid. And u-s-u-a-l-l-y doctor's offices will try and work with you too. Maybe try another doctor or call around to doctor's offices in your area and see if one of 'em can take a look at your husband. What a horror for you both to have gone thru!

...My husband has herniated disks in his back and at times has sciatica as well. He goes to a chiropractor to ease pain and discomfort and it does seem to work. Your husband might want to give that a try. It's a thought.

...I love your booths and I imagine that you are pretty popular there too! :o)

...I just want you to know that I am holding you in my thoughts and prayers Amy.

...Hope you have a lovely week and don't forget to take care of yourself too, 'kay?

...(((hug)))

...Blessings

...I also meant to add to this: "Maybe try another doctor or call around to doctor's offices in your area and see if one of 'em can take a look at your husband." -- and explain your situation to them regarding no health insurance/husband out of work and I'm certain you will find one that'll work with you.

Oh....Amykins - so sorry to read of the medical/insurance ordeals. I can relate to your (and your hubby's) pain. That insurance thing is a nightmare....but yikes - no one should be treated the way he was. (Although, I would say you're fortunate with the MRI only being $600.....we just got the bill for Little Crow's....it was $2,300+ WTH???!!!) Wishing, hoping, and praying for you two.....On a happier note - the market photos brought me cheer. Looks like you have some wonderful offerings. But oh, am I lovin' that old round basket on the right..... ;o) Girls are getting big....such pretties, each in their own unique way.....Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin
